Basildon Cineworld to open UK's 10th 4DX screen with special effects 'to stimulate all five senses'

CINEWORLD at Basildon’s Festival Leisure Park is to open a 4DX screen to ’stimulate all five senses’.

The new screen, set to open by the end of June, will be only the 10th of its kind in the country.

It will feature ’motion seats’ and a curved screen bigger than a double-decker bus.

It will allow the cinema to use special effects including fog, lightning, wind, water, bubbles and smells.

The effects will be used in ’perfect synchronicity with the action on screen’.

The cinema chain said it would offer customers ’the most exhilarating cinema experience yet’.

The technology was introduced to the UK from South Korea in 2015 and is exclusive to the Cineworld chain. It works with both 2D and 3D films.

The screen is currently under construction and will seat 164 customers.

Cineworld Basildon manager Phil Peirce said he was ’thrilled’ to be installing the pioneering techology.

He said: “There’s nothing like it in the area and it’s totally exclusive to Cineworld. We cannot wait to see customers’ reactions when they try it out later this month.”
