CHELMSFORD City’s creative midfielder, Kane Haysman, was delighted to be back in the starting line-up after being a notable absentee recently.

The one-time Gillingham man found himself cup-tied for the epic Buildbase FA Trophy ties with Tranmere Rovers and was then forced to sit out of the Clarets frustrating 1-1 National League draw with St Albans City due to illness. However, after making a goalscoring return to the side as Heybridge Swifts were dispatched in the Essex Senior Cup, Haysman hopes to re-establish himself in Rod Stringer’s side.

“It was frustrating to be out of the side, especially through no fault of my own, he said “However, the Heybridge game went well. It took me a little while to get going, but once we got into the second half, everything clicked and I thought I did alright.

“I’m looking forward to Saturday at Dartford now. I’m hoping to push on, maybe grab a place in the starting line-up and do well.

Haysman, who arrived at the Melbourne Stadium from Sutton United in December, believed it would be a close encounter with their old adversaries from Kent, adding: “It’s going to be a tough game. Previous results have suggested it could go either way. I think it will be a case of who turns up on the day and is up for it more.

“We have worked on different shapes and systems ahead of the match. The gaffer (Rod Stringer) and Nick Haycock will put together a plan that the boys know really well.”

The 22-year-old had words of praise for the Clarets support, who have magnificently backed the team this season: “We had a huge support at Princes Park for the FA Trophy game and I’m sure our fans will turn out in force on Saturday. It’s a tremendous boost to hear them getting behind us. Hopefully, we can reward them with three vital points to get our play-off aspirations back on track this weekend.”
